What is Ultrasound?
An ultrasound study uses sound waves (that the human ear cannot hear) to make a picture of various parts of the body. Ultrasound is non-invasive, which means nothing goes through the skin. The examination is performed by a sonographer (someone who is trained in scanning techniques) and takes approximately 15-30 minutes.
